Of Love...
What is love? Is it a feeling? Is it a state of mind?
Is it the heart that dominates? Or does the mind take over?
Complicated stuff eh...depends on each individual as well...
But one thing that I have observed in my time is that girls tend to let the mind get involved...guys are more foolish...heart and all heart. of course, am not stating this in an absolute fashion...just a mere observation...i maybe wrong here.
According to me, it should be a bit of both the heart and the mind...after the initial fizz dies down, its the person within who matters...then the heart will just be merely content with involuntarily pumping blood and thus performing its inevitable duty...traitor!
The mind is screwed out of its peace and quiet that way...poor thing...it has to rationalize every wrong turn, stupid decision and doofus screw-up that one might have had the bad luck to stumble upon...not so different in love. Better get the grey matter involved to some extent in the decision making...cos its better not to hear someone say "seeeee....I TOLD you that it wont workout!!"

Girls the mind and guys the heart. Too intriguing to note that this is what youve observed. Thats a gender bias, I strongly feel girls are the whole emotional lot.
I guess few of your assumptions turn out to be wrong(that includes me too). Hard fact to accept though !!
